In the Strong’s concordance of the Bible, the number 2617 represents the Hebrew word חסד, or khesed.

2617. khesed (kheh’-sed)

From chacad; kindness; by implication (towards God) piety: rarely (by opposition) reproof, or (subject.) Beauty — favour, good deed(-liness, -ness), kindly, (loving-)kindness, merciful (kindness), mercy, pity, reproach, wicked thing.

Or, in other words, steadfast love; all 194 Biblical references to this term in the Old Testament are used in conjunction with it being an attribute of God.

Ergo, this blog is 2617. Steadfast Love. The writings of a woman worshiping the God who loves her with a steadfast love.

… the Author

My name is Tami.

I belong to Jesus. He saved me when I was 16 1/2 and has been faithful to sanctify (root out sin and make me more holy, more like Jesus) consistently since then.

I am the wife of one godly husband, the amazing Jason. We were married in September of 2007, and almost every day I still pause, take a deep breath, and wonder how it is that God loves me so much that He’s blessed me with such a sweet, loving, attentive, servant-hearted and overall incredible husband. Sure, we argue and have to work through our abundant sin, but I get to see the gospel acted out every day in my marriage. We are blessed with the opportunity to recognize sin, to confess that sin to God and then to one another, to be enabled by Jesus to repent, and then to be empowered by the Holy Spirit to persevere. It’s beautiful.

I seek to live a life of repentance in hopes of seeing others do the same. Whether it’s being honest with a doctor about the hope that I have in Christ, mentoring younger women, building love & trust filled relationships with people who don’t believe the gospel, or just plain going to God consistently and confessing my deep need for Him as I live this life He’s given me, the goal of my life is to know Jesus and make Him known.

I am a member of Mars Hill Church. Jesus called Jason and I there in November of 2007, and our lives are hardly recognizable compared to who we were before. It is there that I have learned that all of life is repentance and that everything is about knowing and worshiping Jesus. Religious ways have been put to death and the gospel of a life lived for Jesus has taken over. I’ve learned what it looks like to live in gospel-centered community, living out life with others who love Jesus, and I firmly believe that God’s greatest gift to me after Jesus Himself was leading my husband and me to a church that has taught us the Bible and how to live out the gospel.

I live in and love Seattle. Best city in the entirety of creation, I think. I pray that this city will one day become unrecognizable because it’s turned into a place filled with people who worship Jesus, and that out of my beloved city will come a revival of people repenting of sin and surrendering to Jesus the likes of which the world has never seen.

Life is good because of God’s grace, life is hard because of man’s sin, and I pray my writing here will be used by Jesus to be life-giving to others for His glory.
